May 2008 W7ASC Column

Yet another update on the W7ASC move. Surprise! The May 31, 2008 teardown date reported last month has been postponed, possibly to early July. I think I will have to fire my Astrologer as the date keeps on slipping (slipping, slipping into the future...).

We will have the W7ASC Shack open for the Field Day event June 28th - 29th. Inside operation, so we don't have to swelter in the summer heat. Speaking of summer, our "Summer Hours" (10:00AM - 3:00PM) start Memorial Day Monday May 26th and go through TO Labor Day, Monday September 1st. Of course this will depend on the Ham Shack tear-down, so we will likely be closed for at lest 6 TO 8 weeks in the summer (July-August).

Our Tech License class at MCC finished up with 15 students passing their Tech tests out of 19 signing up. Thanks again to Dave Morrill N7TWT and his VE team for running the test session. New Hams are:

Reid Bailey KE7TLT
Cory McDowell KE7TNY
Sally McDowell KE7TNZ
Earl Melbourne KE7TOA
Mike Layland KE7TOB
Greg Griffith KE7TOC
Dave Soletski KE7TOD
William Neill KE7TOE
Ken Smith KE7TOF
Allen Blaine KE7TOG
John Desenberg KE7TOH
Bjorn Fjordholm KE7TOI
Tom Mason KE7TOJ
Walter Cheatham KE7TOK
Jason Sanders KE7TOL

We plan to start up a General License Class at the Science Center July 26th, the weekend after the Williams Hamfest. Give me a call or e-mail if interested.

We are still looking for more W7ASC volunteers. Spread the word at your Ham Club. Call 480-961-1109 and volunteer now. A Volunteer sign-up page is available at www.w7asc.org
