Combined Superstition-Scottsdale ARC Field Day
Photos by Tom Salt, AD7PM
Tom provided me with these pictures of a small portion of our 2008 ARRL Field Day, taken on June 28 . A link to photos from Judy, K7JLF appears just above the first picture below.
We had two operators from the Scottsdale ARC, Bob, K7TR, who racked up a pile of CW contacts on 40 and 20 meters, while Ed, WU7S ran 40 and 20 SSB using his mobile antenna on his car. There were a few others up for the day from Scottsdale also.
Running 5A-AZ, we ioerated under the callsign NK7T, which is just a hair shorter than AJ7T and about the same length as WB7, without the suffix, for CW work. Ron, AJ7T ran his station with a discone, Judy, K7JLF had one set up with the club banner nearby, there was Terry, NK7T, running PSK31, and Ken, KE4ZWZ, along with K7TR and WU7S.
Andrea, KE7OPV, 11, was our youngest operator on the air, and racked up a few SSB contacts of her own for the combined effort. Judy, K7JLF says most operators on the band were very understanding and patient with Andrea's delivery, asking for repeats any time necessary, and making sure she had all of their information. A fun time was had by all.
ARRL Field Day Rules permit one station operating fone, typically SSB, one station operating CW and one station running Digital modes on each amateur band, a total of three signals per band. To remain in compliance with these limitations and to maintain no more than five simultaneous transmitters on the air at a time, Ken, KE4ZWZ served as our frequency coordinator. Prior to our entering a different mode or band, we had to go through him for clearance.

We have additional photos from Judy, K7JLF , posted on the Internet, at Google's Picasa site, but here are the ones from Tom below:
Above: Station set up by Judy, K7JLF, as under the canopy a crowd gathers.
Below: The vertical antenna used by Judy's station, 20 and 40 meter SSB. The solar panel used for charging batteries is also pictured.
Above: There is Andrea, KE7OPV, 11, making contacts on Judy's station.
Below: This is Larry, WB7CRK running the keyer on 15m on the station put up by Ron, AJ7T. Larry is not the contester that Bob, K7TR, operating further up the road, on 20 and 40 CW, is, but there wasn't much going on 10 and 15 meters, either.
